I once took an academic course in photography and learned a lot about how photographic pictures makes meaning and all the things a single photo can tell us. Perhaps that's why I have my doubts regarding the way people choose to portrait themselves in different situations, because if one picture really says more than a thousand words then perhaps people should be a more careful when they send out holiday cards and make their family albums. On the other hand one could argue that this naive approach is what makes family photo so damn charming; Because it's not a commercial in a lifestyle magazine, it's simply a photo of a situation we wish to remember. Still, one might think twice before posting pictures (especially) on the www after visiting Awkward Family Photos.
